RF to Scart adapter SkyLink remote extenders for Sky Digibox Non-Sky cabinet remote extenders Miscellaneous Bypass Kit "looper device" Cabinet remote extenders tvLINK-Plus remote extender Wireless Remote Extenders Powermid Magic Eye review <--- If you need help with choice of product on the page CLICK HERE You'll find various remote control control extender systems on this page. The "SkyLink" magic-eye series will send a signal down your existing coaxial cable from your second TV set to your Sky Digibox. (The cable may need to be replaced with a double-shielded type). The "tvLINK-Plus" system lets the magic-eye be used with almost ANY equipment and is not limited to just the Sky Digibox. (The cable may need to be replaced with a double-shielded type). The "Powermid" and "DigiEye" systems are wireless transmitters with all the usual advantages and drawbacks of such systems. You don't need a cable (except to connect the 2nd TV for sound and audio) but wireless transmitters can be susceptible to interference. Please be sure to click on all associated links on this page for additional information. If you are unsure about the suitability of a specific product, please read the notes here and below. (Note: SkyLink remote extenders are not compatible with some cable boxes). WE SUPPLY COMPREHENSIVE INSTRUCTIONS - unlike other companies. IMPORTANT: Pace DS445NB - We understand that this Sky Digibox is not compatible with the Global tvLINK so we recommend you choose a different make of "magic eye" for this unit. (Note: SkyLink remote extenders are not compatible with some cable boxes). Yes, there is absolutely no difference between the way in which Sky Digiboxes operate with a "magic eye remote extender" (but see above). Note that the Amstrad DRX595 has NO RF OUTPUTS and can not be used directly with a "magic eye" remote extender. You would have to use a wireless remote extender or a wired "magic eye" with a tvLINK-Plus and power supply. Probably less hassle to buy a used Sky+HD Digibox and get Sky to activate your viewing card in that. IMPORTANT: Remote extenders ("Magic Eyes") - Magic eyes are delicate, and over-handling, or holding by the leads, will easily damage the delicate soldered joints, causing them to malfunction. Never plug them directly into a TV. Always use a fly-lead with crimped or soldered TV plugs (or 'F' plugs if required). Most TV sets emit interference so the "magic eye" may need to be positioned away from the TV or where it can't "see" the TV screen or reflections from the screen. Please download and follow our comprehensive instructions. RF to Scart (Global DTA adapter) Convert analogue RF signals to Scart for connection to digital-only TVs. For more information and ordering click HERE. Allows you to connect your Sky Digibox to two additional TV sets and supports the SkyLink "magic eyes" shown on this page. See Splitters page to order. For use where the signal loss of a passive splitter and cable cause "grainy Sky pictures" (even with TV aerial disconnected) or interference on pictures or where the remote control will not work. See Amplifiers page to order. Control your equipment from anywhere in the house! Simply replace one battery cell in your existing remote to turn it into a wireless transmitter! Ideal for the non-technical. Nothing to re-program. More info. Convert a second remote Pipe Freesat round your house via coaxial cable and control from another room! The popular Triax Tri-Link kit Can control up to 3 independent pieces of equipment (including direct connection to SKY RF2 socket if required). Tri-Link Kit includes: More info click HERE SatCure Professional Piping kit Suitable for any Freesat system. NOTE: we had several RF modulators tested independently. Only one produced good quality pictures and sound, and did not interfere with "magic eye" operation. (This was not the one in the photo - we supply the best.) Scart input, aerial input (female), alternative phono inputs for video and audio, brightness adjustment, UHF channel selector, UHF PAL-I output socket (male). The kit comprises: You will also need coaxial cable. See immediately below. You may also requre additional connectors. If we've missed anything from the kit, please tell us as soon as you receive it. White WF65-1 coaxial cable just 4.5mm diameter (ultra-thin) Ideal for connecting Satellite dish (up to 20 m), Freeview, UHF and "magic eyes" up to 40 metres. Thin and unobtrusive. Only slightly thicker than telephone cable! (Max single length 30 metres. If you order more than one lead, please state in the "shopping cart" what cut lengths you require.) 30p/metre Optional connectors > TEL39A right-angle TV plug Suitable for use with the VisionLink (scroll down) or any SkyLink amplifier that has 'F' connectors. Important notes: The following SkyLink remote extenders send a signal down the coaxial cable that feeds the second TV. They can be adversely affected by interference radiated from LCD and Plasma screens, which often requires them to be positioned at least 3 metres away from the screen. Some "ordinary" TV sets can also prevent them from working reliably if too close. Wired "magic eyes" SLXlink SLXlink (scroll up/down to see alternative types) Note that all of these "SkyLink" systems can be used to operate a Sky Digibox which is hidden from view. Simply plug into the "RF Output 2" socket, place the "magic eye" in view and select the RF power "on" in the secret menu (see FAQ page). The SLX cable is approximately 84cm long. Special offer: Buy one at the same time as any SKY remote and pay less! SLX link magic eye Important notes: The following remote extenders send a signal down the coaxial cable that feeds the second TV. They can be adversely affected by interference radiated from LCD and Plasma screens, which often requires them to be positioned at least 3 metres away from the screen. Some "ordinary" TV sets can also prevent them from working reliably. (Note: SkyLink remote extenders are not compatible with some cable boxes). This tiny VisionLink "eye" is no larger than the end of your finger. Connected by 870mm of thin cable, it is the least obtrusive of all the remote extenders. The tubular link adapter is fitted with a threaded "F" connector and a short, flexible lead with TV plug to connect to your TV aerial socket. You should screw an "F" connector plug to your cable in order to make a connection. (Plugs are on page 7). (scroll up/down to see alternative types) Installation info. Triax Digital-Link is another version of the above. Note that all of these "SkyLink" systems can be used to operate a Sky Digibox which is hidden from view. Simply plug into the "RF Output 2" socket, place the "magic eye" in view and select the RF power "on" in the secret menu (see FAQ page). Special offer: Buy one at the same time as any SKY remote and pay less! Digital link magic eye Choice of silver or Charcoal grey If your "SkyLink" doesn't work while connected to your TV set aerial socket but does work when you disconnect it from your TV and just hold the connector close to the aerial socket, then our Decoupler should solve your problem. It has a threaded "F" screw connection each end. Fit it into a coaxial lead between the "SkyLink" and TV aerial socket. Be sure to order cable and plugs if required* See MORE INFO. See our technical page for "F" plug fitting instructions. *We can supply cable with 'F' plug and TV plug fitted, separately. Global tvLINK Choice of silver or black (scroll up/down to see alternative types) IMPORTANT: Pace DS445NB - We understand that this Sky Digibox is not compatible with the Global tvLINK so we recommend you choose a different make of "magic eye" for this unit. Standard SKY+ SkyHD Works with Freeview, Video Recorders, DVD players and Satellite receivers. Many Hi-Fi systems, videos and satellite receivers are stored in cupboards or hidden out of sight. This creates a problem when remote operating equipment using a standard infrared remote control handset. The infrared signals cannot travel through objects that are not transparent and even some glass can cause serious degeneration of the signal. The equipment receiver must be in the line of sight of handset. The 'tvLINK-plus' provides the solution! An unobtrusive infrared receiver unit is placed in a convenient position in the remote handset's line of sight. Two self-adhesive emitter elements are connected to the receiver unit by leads and are attached to the inside of cabinets, shelves or in close proximity to the equipment. The unit is powered by a small "base station" power supply and is very easy to install. A solution to the remote controlling of hidden infrared controlled equipment! No special handset needed! The tvLINK-plus has the advantage of controlling the Sky Digibox as well. For more info about controlling equipment in cupboards, click HERE. tvLINK Plus for Sky and other equipment With this product you can now view and remotely control any two normally controlled infra red devices such as a terrestrial freeview unit, video recorder, digital satellite receiver or DVD unit. In a typical system installation, the interface unit would be located in close to the units you wish to control. The two infra red blaster units are then placed such that they will blast the remote control signals directly at the front of the controlled device. The unit receives its information from the remote tvLINK eye so in order to use the tvLINKplus you must either already own one (or more) tvLINKs or purchase a complete kit that will include a tvLINK. The unit is designed to operate with the remote control normally supplied with the device to be controlled or with a suitably programmed universal remote control. If the unit is NOT used with a Sky Digibox you will need the power supply (PSU). More Info The TVlink-plus is compatible with all of our Loft Boxes and "Sky-Link compatible" amplified splitters. (Note: TVlink Plus is not compatible with some cable boxes). With this product you can now view and remotely control any three normally controlled infra-red devices such as a terrestrial freeview unit, video recorder, digital satellite receiver or DVD unit. In a typical system installation, the interface unit would be located in close to the units you wish to control. The three infra red blaster units are then placed such that they will blast the remote control signals directly at the front of the controlled device. (Alternatively, direct them so their invisible light will reflect off a white surface, such as a piece of paper on the inside of a cabinet door.) The unit receives its information from the remote SLxLINK eye (supplied). The unit is designed to operate with the remote controls normally supplied with the devices to be controlled or with a suitably programmed universal remote control. The OmniLink-plus is compatible with all of our Loft Boxes and "Sky-Link compatible" amplified splitters. (Note: OmniLink-Plus is not compatible with some cable boxes). See page 15 for SkyLink compatible amplified splitters. Pipe TV around your house and change Sky channels from any room! Bypass Kit "looper device" Allows the TV Link, SLXlink or Digilink signals to go around an ordinary amplifier. It's better to use a SkyLink compatible amplified splitter but if you've already installed the wrong type of amplifier, splitter or combiner, the Bypass Kit might be a way out! Single bedroom only (not multiple). See page 15 for SkyLink compatible amplifiers Used to connect a power supply to an RF coaxial lead in order to power an amplifier or similar. Power goes out in the direction indicated by the arrow (male TV connector) but the female TV connector receives no power (isolated). It will let you apply 9 volts DC to a "magic eye". However, if your Digibox is not supplying the voltage, there's no guarantee that it will respond to the remote signal either. This DC inserter has a standard DC inlet socket which you can feed from a suitable battery or from a suitably rated regulated DC power supply. Be sure to buy one that has the correct voltage and current ratings for the device that you are powering*. See page 5 for power supplies. DC socket plug on power supply should be 5mm O/D x 2.5mm I/D (spare plug supplied with DC1). It is now possible to locate all your Sky set-top boxes in one place and independently control them from other locations within the home. The new Global SPC4 (Super Plus Combiner) allows the RF2 output of up to four Sky Digiboxes to be connected into a home distribution system, with independent control. The four Sky Digiboxes can be any combination of, the standard Sky Digibox, Sky+, or Sky HD, or all the same type, if required. You simply "tell" the SPC4 which remote pairs with which Digibox then it works automatically! The user simply allocates the remote control in each room to one of the four set-top boxes connected. Thereafter, that remote control will operate only that set-top box allocated to it. The only constraint is that once a remote control has been programed to operate with one of the set-top boxes, it will not operate any of the other set-top boxes within the system. Read forum discussion about this product. POWERMID XL Wireless Infra-red remote controller extender system transmits your infrared remote control signals via a wireless transmitter to a receiver which then sends them out as infrared again to any equipment in the room. POWERMID system Allows you to operate ALL* Infra-Red Remote Controlled Equipment from ANYWHERE in your house. (It does not send picture or sound. You need a cable or a Videosender for that). More versatile than the TV Link. POWERMID XL includes both transmitter and receiver. Both units have a 230v mains power connection lead with UK plug. (Plug can be removed for Europe). Dimensions approx.: 75mm x 75mm x 110mm high. More details * Not some cable boxes. WARNING: The POWERMID XL can interfere with the operation of systems such as the ADT wireless security alarm! If you have this alarm system, don't use a Powermid. POWEREX receiver extender eye, by Xantech, which is a tiny blob that you stick to the equipment. A thin wire plugs into the mini jack socket on the Powermid receiver. Allows you to control just ONE piece of equipment (which may be inside a cabinet or cupboard). Send this page address - CLICK HERE - to a friend ! The Powermid Infra Red extender system POWERMID XL Allows you to operate ALL Infra-Red Remote Controlled Equipment from ANYWHERE in your house. More versatile than the TV Link. I use this system in my own house. Wouldn't be without it! POWERMID XL enables you to operate your equipment with your remote control from ANY location, even lying in bed. Transmitter and receiver are just plugged into a mains socket in the rooms required. The transmitter goes in your bedroom (for example). The receiver goes where the equipment to be controlled is situated. This could be in your main room or in a large cupboard or loft. The equipment must be able to "see" its infra-red signal or its reflection (off a wall for example). If you want Powermid to operate only *one* piece of equipment and if placement of the receiver is inconvenient or impossible, then use the "PowerEx" extender eye with it. (Note: Powermid does not transmit picture or sound. It sends a remote control signals only. If you want to transmit picture and sound, use a videosender instead). Note: if your immediate neighbour has a Powermid XL system, you may find that his Sky Digibox operates your Digibox and vice versa. This problem *might* be eliminated by shortening the telescopic aerials on all four units (both houses). WARNING: The POWERMID XL can interfere with the operation of systems such as the ADT wireless security alarm! Do not use in conjunction with other equipment with a transmission frequency of 433 MHz or adjacent frequency or harmonic (multiple). My eBook "Piping TV Around the House" explains Powermid, TV Link, amplifiers, splitters, boosters and UHF tuning. You should read this before ordering.
