| 7 Day timer If you go on holiday and switch off all sockets at the mains (as you are supposed to do) your Sky Digibox will be unable to receive software updates or dial BskyB in accordance with your contract. But if you leave it powered up, there's a risk that it could be damaged by a power surge during an electrical surge or even cause a fire. The risk is minimal but it's there - especially if you leave cats in the house with a neighbour feeding them once or twice a day! One way to minimise the risk while still getting software updates is to connect a time switch that will switch the Digibox on for, say, 8 hours overnight once a week. |
