The original dish near Limassol in Cyprus was 2.4m in diameter but had to be increased to 3.2m in order to receive BBC and ITV |

Fitting the "petals" is a job for a specialist. The dish surface must be accurate to within one millimetre so the bolts must be tightened in a specific order to just the right tightness. |

Because a feed horn is designed to "see" a specific area of dish, there was no point in making the dish larger without changing the feed horn as well. The old feed horn (left) measured 7.3cm in diameter. The new horn is in the right-hand picture, below, and measures only 6cm, with the central scalar ring protruding 5mm above the others. |

"The first stage of the conversion was to change the LNB and realign the dish on the satellite and adjust alignment and skew. I can only say that after the LNB was changed and the dish alignment on the satellite was peaked again that neither BBC or ITV was receivable until the extension panels were added so there is at least some gain in the extension panels. To counter this, I also have reports from other installers, that a two piece 3m dish is holding both channels in, all day, but I can not confirm this." |
