For quite some time it has been possible to order a "FreesatFromSky" viewing card on-line. The price dropped last year but rose back to £20 in January when UK VAT returned to 17.5%. Go to https://mysky.sky.com/replacecard/get-a-card Scroll down and click on "Don't have a viewing card?" Fill in the form with your UK postal address. (You can even order a card this way while you are abroad, provided that you use your UK address.) When the card arrives, insert it into the slot and phone Sky (or get someone to phone for you). Note: it is a breach of BskyB's Terms & Conditions to use a viewing card outside the UK. (It is not illegal.) Paypal Our software writer tells me that our Paypal integration with the shopping cart is almost complete! He will carry out a few more tests but I'm hoping to "go live" within a few days. On a personal note, my wife and I almost got killed yesterday. We had gone with friends to a taverna. As it was very windy, the owners had pulled down the clear plastic roller blinds which were supported between brick pillars. As we stood up to look at the menu, a huge gust of wind hit the plastic screens and brought a pillar crashing down. It missed me but my wife was slightly injured by the large block that you can see in the photo. We went inside and had our meal, which was excellent and "on the house". Unfortunately, we had to leave immediately after the meal because my wife was in pain. She's much better today but has huge bruises on her right elbow and hip. She was so lucky that the pillar caught her a glancing blow. Had we not just stood up to look at the menu, and moved away from the pillar, the result could have been a lot worse. According to the taverna owners, the pillars have been standing for many years and (apart from bad engineering) it was sheer bad luck that we happened to be next to the one that fell. I hope they'll rebuild the pillars with steel reinforcing rods, as they are supposed to do anyway for earthquake resistance. Did you watch the TV documentary "Total Recall" about the problems that Toyota are having with some cars accelerating out of control? Apparently several people have been killed! Toyota blamed it on badly-fitted carpets and instigated a recall for that (but some out-of-control cars didn't have carpets). Then they decided that the accelerator pedal mechanism was sticking and instigated a recall for that (although several customers claimed their out-of-control car did NOT have a sticky pedal). Now, with rumours of a computer firmware problem, they seem to be considering offering a cut-out button so that the brake will override the engine, regardless. But it seems to me that they are utterly clueless about what is causing the problem. I think they need a "lateral thinker" like me to investigate. I had a minor problem with my own little Peugeot 307. The horn was intermittent! Now, on a Greek island you can get away with no brakes, missing doors and windows and other major problems. But a non-working horn is a disaster that makes the car undriveable! After much investigation, I tracked this down to a design problem and the solution was simple. Talk about "spoiling the ship for a halfpenny worth of tar! All it needed was a tiny smear of silicone grease. Read about my Peugeot horn fix. We offer a rather expensive HDMI 4-way amplified splitter. I think we've sold ONE in the last year! I asked one of our suppliers if he could provide something cheaper. This was his reply: Hi Martin, No, something we don't get involved with. Too many 'cheap' Chinese imports (trying to explain all the reasons why ours is better falls on deaf ears - price talks! ) So before anyone else writes to me to ask "why does this strange thing happen with my xyz TV when I connect it to my Sky+HD Digibox via a cheap Chinese HDMI splitter?" let me advise you - DON'T bother to ask! The problem with these cheap splitters is that they aren't fully compliant with the HDMI standard. This means that it's a lottery. It might work with your specific setup, or it might not. I have photographed an excellent install at a neighbours flat. I came home to find an 'engineer' on the scaffold (erected as the Landlord is refurbishing the roof and windows) fitting a dish. He has made a lovely job of the cable run, all round the scaffold fixed with cable-ties, then onto the wall and fixed with clips before entering the property through a neat hole with a waterproof cover. I hope I'm at home when the scaffolders come to remove the scaffold. J.L. Today it took me only a few minutes to locate the cause of the PhotoShop problem. I repaired Permissions and also ran AppleJack, which made it more stable. But a folder containing some files installed by my Epson scanner software was the real culprit:- Symptom: Adobe Photoshop 7 crashes when it gets to loading TWAIN. Go -> Hard Drive -> Library -> Image Capture Move contents of Image Capture folder to the trash. This fixed my problem. Hope it helps someone else! I think it may also have been the cause of my scanner not working properly. However, being the impatient sort and having a lot of outstanding work at the time, I simply moved over to a different Mac! M.P. Those people who contribute to this newsletter can have a sneaky look at my on-line "blog", if they ask me very nicely! (Make it interesting.) I promise not to make fun of your spelling or grammar. (I'll correct it.) - a selection from this month's emails (If you are a new subscriber I'm afraid that you might find some of my replies a little blunt to the point of being rude. That's just the way I am after answering customers' questions for the last fourteen years. Please don't take offence. Sometimes I'm a little tired, ratty or impatient and it shows! Generally, if you ask for a free reply, you'll get what you pay for. If you DO have a question, PLEASE read the web site information and eBooks first. I get the same questions day after day because people can't be bothered to look.) Regards Paul S. Hi, Paul. This sort of question boils down to "personal choice", based on what you want to achieve and what is practical, dependent on house layout, available equipment and (frequently) what your wife is prepared to accept! However, based on the information you've given, it seems to me that a Loft Box would be totally unsuitable. For the moment, therefore, I'd suggest running twin coaxial cable to each room and connecting those cables, that you actually require, to the LNB. Later on, you might consider swapping the dish to one with a "QUATTRO" LNB and installing a "multiswitch". This would provide more than 8 LNB feeds so you could connect at least a twin feed to every room (for PVR operation) and also connect a TV aerial to the multiswitch to feed terrestrial Freeview signals to each room as well. (From your location you should receive an excellent signal from Crystal Palace.) You might not want this immediately but it's often a good selling point, should you ever want to move house. Model number on label or rear panel: TU-DSB31 I have a Toshiba HDD/DVD/VCR connected to my digibox and JVC TV Model AV-32WR4EK. My problem is I can no longer record SKY subscription channels. I believe this started after I inserted the 'new' card that SKY sent me about 4 months ago. I have contacted SKY about this and all they say is that the new card is working fine and there maybe some channels I cannot get and maybe I'd like to consider changing to the SKY+ box. My Brother-in-law has a Amstrad SKY digibox and he can still record all programmes after inserting his new card. When I attempt to record subscription channels I get the following message through my Toshiba unit:'Recording of this programme is prohibited. To quit, first select OK and then press stop'. I've had my TV repair man check my wiring connections which he said are OK. These are the scart connections: TV Ext1 to Digibox TV out. TV Ext2 to Toshiba AV1. Digibox VCR to Toshiba AV2. Any help would be appreciated. Mick S. The possible answer to this issue is the box is not running the latest software. A forced download may cure this. Recorder believes Sky's encription is macrovision. The model number in the systems details page may be "acceptable" but not the latest (sorry I don't have the model number to hand). If this does not work, contact Sky, give the details, and they should be looked into and fixed at a later software update. Sean Dear Team: I have a purculiar problem. I live in a small modern apartment block with a shared aerial (I don't know it's type, its out of sight). Through this aerial I can get the following channels: BBC 1, BBC2, ITV, CHL4, FIVE, E4, E4 MUSIC, HALLMARK, MTV, SKY NEWS, NEWS 24 & a couple of shopping channels ie: QVC. <snip> With what receiver? These appear to be VIRGIN MEDIA channels, which you can receive only via a VIRGIN cable TV box and a VIRGIN Media cable connection (not an aerial). To receive Freeview you will need a suitable aerial (a V10-040 log-periodic should do) pointing at Sandy Heath transmitter on a compass bearing of 73 degrees. If you can achieve that (for example) through a window pane, you should be able to receive all freeview programmes. See http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/best_aerial.htm Thank you for your previous advice. I managed to access the Installers Menu and set the RF Outlet to 50 with the RF Power supply ON and saved the new setting in the menu. All this was done with just the scart connection with no LNB or Aerial connections. I then disconnected the scart and connected a manufactured RF lead between the TV and Minibox and Autotuned the TV - the TV after completing its Autotune still could not find the No Satellite Signal picture on the TV. I then accessed the Installers Menu again and set the RF Outlet to 51 and repeated the procedure, - same result No Satellite Signal picture on the TV. I then accessed the installers Menu a third time and turned the RF Power Supply off, set the RF Outlet to 50 and saved it in the Installers Menu and repeated the Autotune - still No Satellite Signal picture found by the TV. At this point I gave up, any other suggestions you think will help Martin. Based on your reported test results, I can safely say that your Digibox must be faulty. There can be no other conclusion. ANDREW H. You have omitted the make and model number. Your English is difficult to understand. Therefore my ability to diagnose the cause of your problems is severely restricted. See http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/satindex.htm "55. Wired Remote Extender eyes". Do you do a kit for this machine? would you recommend replacing the capacitors now or waiting for the fault to reappear? David F. Hi, David, Unfortunately, you haven't stated the model number but all Thomson boxes have capacitor problems. We do a kit for the DTi6300 model:- http://www.satcure.co.uk/accs/page12.htm#thomson Model number on label or rear panel: Foxsat HD PVR I'm replacing a Sky+ box with a Humax Foxsat HDR. Currently, we have an Antiference RemoteLink A280D amplifier in the loft to which the Sky+ box is connected via 'UHF in' and distributed to multiple rooms via 6 of the outputs. There are also several Sky Magic Eyes to control the Sky+ box remotely. Will your "Magic eye and modulator kit" work with the A280D and Sky Magic Eyes to allow multi-room viewing and control? What is the equipment included in the kit? Thank you, Jeff Hi, Jeff. See "The kit comprises" list here: http://www.satcure.co.uk/accs/page3.htm#freesat It should work with any "SkyLink compatible" amplifier and "magic eyes". Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the A280D. Model number on label or rear panel: DSI 8215WDR-89 Replacement PSU, checked on receipt, undamaged, correctly installed - response and display very sluggish. Checked PSU voltage output, with exception of 38V pin (open circuit reading ~24V) all others measured as marked. (using Rapid Electronics 328 Digital Multimeter set to DC voltage). Mains i/p voltage 240V AC. Does this suggest a possible problem? Regards, Dennis Unfortunately, there is no server record of your using SAT048302 to view your Product Information page. The only way to test a PSU is to fit it into a working Digibox. All our PSUs are tested and checked before despatch. Please inspect immediately on receipt to ensure that no physical damage occurred during transit. (This has never happened but the possibility remains.) We have had several PSUs returned as "faulty" but, to date, not one of them has actually been faulty. However, you are, of course, very welcome to return your PSU for re-testing. If it's faulty, we'll pay the costs. Thank You Alan S. Depends which Loft Box kit you order. Please order the kit from the relevant Loft Box page. Regards Peter Hi, Peter. Please contact Sales in the UK via the Sales Support Ticket system. I'm in Greece and I look after Technical enquiries only. For C70 you have listed 1000µf, 10v and supplied 1000µf 16v. The original was 1000µ, 10v. After reading the cap kits FAQ, I am happy to use the supplied C70, as it is a higher voltage rating, but C41 is a lower voltage rating, and that voltage is not listed. Please could advise if I can use this cap with no adverse effects ASAP? Many thanks for your assistance so far and for getting the kit out to me. N Hayles Hi, Nathan. We would not normally recommend or supply capacitors of lower voltage than the original. I have asked Sales to check and get back to you. I want to order a plug-top power supply unit but I'm not sure which to choose. My equipment only requires 12 volts at 35mA and I'm worried that your 300mA PSU will blow it up! J.D. See http://www.glodark.com/plug-top-psu.htm Model number on label or rear panel: DS18215WDR A Little advice would really be appreciated Last summer I replaced the capacitors in the Thomson HD receiver, it solved the disappearing channels and getting very hot. Now it is stuck in standby BUT I can force a software down load, the hard drive if fine I checked it on my computer, using a dig voltmeter on the multi plug to the main board all the voltages are fine except the one marked 38v only reads 25v, question do I need your secondary repair kit or should I change the lot again. Many thanks Peter Unfortunately I can't guess. You should determine whether the PSU is the culprit by swapping it for a known good one. The kit is exactly as described here: http://www.satcure.com/accs/kits.htm "No instructions are supplied with these kits. You work from the circuit diagram and build the circuit on a "BredBord" or solder the components onto Stripboard. Please order one or both of these items with the kit." You can read our FAQs about postage, payment etc. on the web site. The engineer came and installed sky+HD, although I do not use, nor have any intention of using the HD feature, partly due to cost, but also because I am not that interested in upgrading my main tv yet. As the property didn't already have a sky dish, the engineer installed one. I still have my old (grey) sky box, I am guessing it is at least three, possibly four years old. My question is, cannot I use it to receive certain satellite channels in another room, and if so what would I need to buy from you in terms of cabling or LNBs or whatever to make it work please? I would prefer to make use of the sky dish that the engineer put up, rather than put up a another dish if at all possible. Thanks very much for your help in advance. Re. the old sky box, I would send you details of the exact type, but I cannot remember, I am currently working away from home, and its in the loft! So if that is needed, let me know and I will get back to you over the weekend Thanks again Kind Regards Kim H You will need a cable and two 'F' plugs to connect, between the LNB on your dish, and the old Digibox. The old Digibox will not work properly until its firmware has updated. You can force an update or simply leave it connected for a few days to receive an automatic update. All the information you need is on our web site. Model number on label or rear panel: DSI8215WD Hi, I have read your Technical and FAQ pages, but have not been able to resolve the problem. My Sky HD system was working, but was starting to freeze during playback of recordings. I purchased and fitted a SatCure RELKIT33js kit and everything is working fine - except for the viewing card reader. Mike Hi, Mike. As stated on our protected instructions web page, if you have any problems you must contact Michael at Digifix. http://www.digifixltd.co.uk I retired from repairs ten years ago and have very little knowledge of the inside workings of modern Digiboxes. What I want to do is link the Roof Aerial feed already in loft and the Sky RF2 Cable form downstairs into a 9v compatible distribution Amp (2 leads into one amp/distribution box) and be able to distribute both Freeview and sky via Amplifier into TV in Bedroom 1 and use the magic eye to control the sky box down stairs too. Is this possible as I do not really want to have to run a lead all the way down stairs from the airial into sky box rf1 then from rf2 all the way back upstairs using the existing wiring. Matt Hi, Matt. Unfortunately, I don't know of any way to achieve this and maintain use of the "magic eye". It might be possible to do it by using a splitter as a combiner but normally this results in unacceptable picture interference and the magic eye won't work. The purchasing details are as follows: Your invoice NO: 118810 If it is OK with you, upon your receipt of my faulty triax 333112 can you supply a Televés 5716 instead? the cost difference should cover the postage? Who do I send this to you? do I require an RMA no? Alan R. Hi, Alan. You don't need an RMA. Simply use your existing order number and enclose a copy of this message. See http://www.satcure.co.uk/useful/ Click on "Returns". THANK YOU thank you ,I have changed my ISP to the new addres shown above. leslie g. I don't understand why we would need to know this if you haven't placed an order? If you HAVE placed an order and require us to do something, please contact either Sales or Technical (whichever is appropriate) and state the order number and what you'd like us to do. My existing Freeview system's coax cable was bought 6 years ago from a local Skyview shop specifically for catering for the freeview digital transmissions. The cable is double-shielded (ie. braiding + foil). Will this be suitable for conveying the satellite dish's LNB output signal some 20 feet to a receiver or do I have to buy more suitable cable? Regards, John T. Probably. But you haven't stated the make and type nor how it has been stored so you are really asking me to guess. R Turner I believe the colours are as depicted in our Photo. However, the colour doesn't affect performance so feel free to spray it whatever colour you like. http://www.satcure.com/tech/dishes.htm#paint In my existing installation I currently use the "TVlink Plus for sky and other equipment" so I can control my DVD Recorder/Blu-ray as well as SKY. (I also distrubute HDMI using CAT-5). This is installed exactly as your web page shows; http://www.satcure.com/tech/tvlink_plus.htm Reading your tech specs I beleive the "SPC4 Super Plus Combiner" (GLO73A @ £39.95) is the best method to control two similar Sky boxes in my current installation. My Question is will I still be able to continue using the TVlink plus to control the non sky equipment? eg SPC4 Port 0 -> Tvlink plus -> SKY HD RF2 SPC4 Port 1 -> SKY+ RF2 SPC4 Combiner -> Loft Return to Loftbox Many thanks in advance & Best regards Jon Hi, Jon. Unfortunately, I can't be certain, but I suspect not, so I suggest you contact the manufacturer. http://www.tvlink.co.uk/contact-us.html Best Wishes, Martin Hello Martin, This is purely for your information regarding my original enquiry in case you get asked the same question again. I have contacted the manufacturers as you suggest and they confirm that it is possible to use a "TV-Link Plus" in conjunction with the "SPC4 Super Plus Combiner". Thanks for the help (I'm off to buy one from your store now!) Best Regards Jon Sound drops out for about 2 seconds at unpredictable times, but sometimes every 20 minutes or so. At other times there will be no drop out for a couple of hours. Sound is also sometimes out of sync with the picture ( sound is heard ahead of the picture ) the delay can vary from minimal to over a second. If left the fault will eventually correct itself, but it can also be corrected immediately by switching to another channel and then back again. But sooner or later the problem re-occurs. Re-booting the STB also cures the problem for a while. The STB is linked to a Pioneer DVR 520H dvd recorder and a JVC AV-28GT1BJF telly. The aeriel is connect first to the STB, then the recorder, then the TV. I have tried using higher grade scart cables. I have checked for STB upgrades (none). Signal strength shows as being high even when the fault is occurring. The aeriel cable seems to be good. chris c. Hi, Chris. Your symptoms suggest impulse interference from a thermostat or similar. Typically, this will come from a nearby central heating boiler and can only be fixed by replacing and/or suppressing the thermostat contacts. However, the fault can also be caused by too high a signal from the aerial or by interference from other sources - or by a faulty receiver. There may be more than one cause. Frankly, the possibilities are legion and all you can do is eliminate them one by one. See http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/freeview_problems.htm Model number on label or rear panel: DRX780UK I've just moved into a house where the previous owner had basic Sky TV (not even Sky+). From a basic set top box, he had piped the sky to 3 other rooms, where he used tv links to change the channel. Obviously all the rooms had to watch the same channel. Since Sky can't sort out my HD for another few weeks, I have rigged up my Sky HD box so that I can watch basic Sky. There's only one satellite feed so I can record only one channel, but that's no problem. The issue is with the 3 cables which lead to the other TVs. I can get a Sky picture in 2 of the 3 rooms, but the picture is fuzzy. And I can't use my TV link magic eyes. I bought a basic CommTel 6-way 470-860MHz 5V distribution amp (with power supply) from Homebase, but it still doesn't provide a good picture. Any thoughts on what the problem is? Since I get perfect Sky at source, I guess it's an amp problem. Is my basic amp designed for TV signals rather Sky signals? Do I need a stronger distribution amp? Which one would you suggest? I also read on your website suggesting you need to plug into The "RF2 out" to get the 9V signal for TV link. I think I plugged into RF1 but can't check as I'm at work (and have no internet at home yet). Any help appreciated. Thanks. james p. Hi, James. You don't state how the signal is "piped to 3 other rooms". See http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/split.htm RF2 out does provide a 9 volt power source (not signal) for the associated SkyLink compatible amplified splitter, if required. The power must be set to ON in the hidden menu. [services] 001 [select] 4 I don't understand how, why or where you've connected the CommTel amplifier. (We don't sell them so I know nothing about them.) You need a SkyLink compatible amplified splitter. THANK YOU Hi there, Just wanted to say thanks and give you some feedback about my experience with your company. We had a problem when you sent an incorrect capacitor in my Relkit33k, but we managed to get this sorted out and you sent me a replacement in due course. I now have a working sky box again, that can actually get all the channels it is meant to receive! My only gripe's about the buying experience were that your messaging and e-mail system was quite difficult to navigate and use, mainly due to there being so many contact addresses that I could not reply to. I also think that some of the text boxes on your e-mail forms could do with being a bit wider; I managed to incorrectly enter my e-mail address into one of them as the box was not wide enough for me to see all of the text. Also, the delivery time on my first order was not great. I appreciate that the actual delivering stage is out of your hands, but the time required for my order to progress from ordered to dispatched was a little excessive. I got the e-mail's saying that my order had reached the warehouse always after 1PM, and the e-mail's mentioned that I could assume my order would be dispatched the same day if the order reached the warehouse before 1 PM, it seemed though that I had to contact you and ask about the dispatch time for my order before you actually sent it. This could be coincidence of course. My first order was ordered on a Friday morning and was not dispatched until the following Tuesday when I enquired about it. This is meant to be feedback for you, not a complaint. I am very grateful for the technical service you gave me in order to get this receiver fixed. I am sure I will be using this company in the event of any future sky box problems! Many thanks Martin, Nicola, and Satcure! Nathan H. Thanks, Nathan. We always appreciate friendly feedback and try to act upon it. Unfortunately, the forms tend to look different in various browsers and operating systems so we try to strike a happy medium. I recall the email problem and I did wonder at the time why it had happened. If the email text box you refer to is in the Sales Support Ticket area (and I think it is), then I may not be able to fix it because the whole system is a proprietary PHP software package which requires a genius to delve into. However, the other email forms are easy to fix. Also, the delivery time on my first order was not great. I'll apologise on Sales' behalf for that. Monday is such a busy day, with orders accumulating from 5pm on Friday onwards, that the girls don't get a chance to read messages until after 5pm on Monday (when they are supposed to be at home having tea). This means that problems arising on a Friday will not usually be sorted until the following Tuesday - exactly as you experienced. We have recently employed another part-time worker but this is clearly not helping this particular situation so we'll have to look at it again. Thanks again for highlighting these problems. PSU REPAIRER I am recommending Richard from London, I contacted him and started talking about the problems my skyHD box was having, and he informed me that it sounds like a PSU problem. He was telling me about the problems that is caused by the above problem which put my mind as ease as the problems on my box was the same as what he was describing. I then told him when I could drop the box off to which he was happy with. I also asked if he could fix it while I wait again he was fine with that. So come the day I went round dropped off my box went off and had some food and read the paper. An hour later he called me to tell me the repair was complete. As an added bonus he gave me the parts he took out of the box during the repair, which was a nice touch. Overall I give him 10 out of of 10 as he is friendly and he really knows his stuff. I will use him again. Leon THANK YOU Hi, I found you site after searching for info on satellite dish/cable installation. I had a contractor install a Freesat setup using a single channel LNB. Much later I decided to upgrade this to a quad LNB feed only to discover that the dish is probably classed as a Sky mini-dish with the old-style LNB fitting - from reading through your web site. Your web pages have provided me with a great deal of detailed info which anyone outside of the trade would not be able to supply. I found a link to your site via the digital Spy forum. I shall be ordering replacement products from your good selves (though I already have a quad LNB) after first trawling through the FAQs. It looks like a 60mm circular dish from you might need to replace the existing elliptical one I have in place :( Many thanks for operating such a good site. z.drewicz Received the repair kit the day after my order , fitted all the caps and now have all my lost channels back works perfect cant thank you enough. Best Regards, Steve Duncan. Fantastic. Who'd have guessed the caps were the problem. I'm pretty sure that as well as curing the lost channels and recording problems the picture on all the channels is much clearer. Might just be my imagination but the picture quality does appear to be better. Many thanks for a quick and effective cure. One small suggestion. To ensure reliable soldering it is worth while to lightly scrape the capacitor leads (with long nose pliers held at an angle) to remove oxidation and re-tin them before fitting to the PSU board. Thanks again Phil Thanks for the fast delivery. My box had been experiencing dropped channels, pixellation, freezing and an inability to watch a recording whilst recording 2 others - it would crash completely. I found your site through Google, and it described many of these issues as PSU problems. Once I got the top off the Sky HD box, the problem was obvious. Several of the capacitors were bulging at the top, and once all were removed, I discovered that one of them had blown out at the bottom. I fitted all of the new ones, and fired up the box. Perfect picture, all dropped channels back, no pixelation and I can record 2 shows whilst playing back a 3rd one! And the HD planner appears to work a lot better now, with less lag. Thanks again Scott Many thanks, you have saved me the cost of a new box. Please feel free to use this as a quote if you wish. Kind regards John Bohn Hi, just wanted to say thanks for the kit and the help files to repair my Thompson Sky+ HD box. I was having trouble with the favourite 'no sat signal' on an odd collection of channels. Just soldered in the 15 caps and hey presto - all fixed. Its a slight shame I already bought and fitted a new dish to fix the problem but hey, live and learn. I just wanted to pass on a tip I found handy, I have a solder sucker (piston type device) that made removing the caps much easier. The ribbon was great for cleaning up the pads after removing the caps but you may want to suggest people get a solder sucker to help the removal. Most of my caps fell out using this technique. Cheers Ian Thanks, Ian. We do stock solder suckers. See our "Tools" section. When my Thomson Sky HD box died I wasn't expecting a cheap or fast fix especially as my soldering skills aren't that great. Less than 48 hours after finding Satcure online I had the parts and excellent detailed instructions, an hour or so later the hard drive was spinning up on first attempt. Thanks for the great service - and the £s saved! Steve Jones I had all the 'usual problems' on my early Thompson Sky HD box, pixelation, lost channels, one input not working - all sometimes, sometimes not. I had some doubts about whether the relkit would really work being an FIET for 30 years and a ham for 40 - G3WOS but what the hell I thought, it was worth trying for the cost. It took me an hour to replace the caps, I switched it on and all is back to normal! So, yes it does! I did buy a new box Amstrad box from you but that's fine as I now have a spare. Thanks Chris Absolutely superb service from sending the old power supply board on a Monday and getting the good one Friday, all is well. Many thanks. Dr. Derek Corcoran I hadn't touched a soldering iron for over 25 years but decided to buy 'relkit 33j' and have a go at repairing my Sky HD box myself. Thanks to the excellent instructions and tips (especially the fishing line supplied) I had it all done in under 2 hours. I Highly recommend it to anyone thinking of doing it themselves. Thank you very much SatCure. John Parker Many thanks for your prompt attention to my order (even though it was only a small one)! I will certainly recommend you to friends and family. Roy Tomlin Using the capacitor kit has solved my Thompson HD box problem of slow EPG and pixelated recordings. Thanks for the kit and good instructions/advice for a cost effective repair. graham rider A BIG "thank you" to all those who took the trouble to write to us! That's it for another month, folks! I solved an interesting fault, today. I booted up a G4 Mac Mini (OS10.4.11) that has been lying around for some months. One of the reasons I had relegated it was that it had become unreliable and I couldn't use PhotoShop.
Questions
I have just downloaded e-book 'piping TV around the house'and an not sure it answers my problems. I have TV's in 4 bedrooms, 1 in the lounge, 1 in the kitchen , 1 in the kids room. Total 8 TV's. A free sat dish with octo LNB. Is it best to fit a loft box or run a seperate Coax WF100 to each room with its own freesat box. We want to be able to control and watch different channels in at least 4 rooms and record/pause in 1. Can you advise best method please.

Hi Martin,
have purchased slx link-recommended as ok for use with sky hd box to work television in bedroom, have co -ax cables between hd sky box output and that tele-quality plugs -and it works directly-fitted by tv aerial specialist, they work ok, but installing slx link block, remote controller does not work,no light on block. Also cannot get into rf output on area in hd sky box menu says pages 1 of 2 but cannot get page 2,lists rf input and levels 1 and 2shown as balanced ,but no ref to output.Welcome advice please
My freeview box power light went ou and came on again before the whoile thing stopped working. I have dismantled it and blew out a lot of dust, reassembled it and it still did not work for a few hours then last night the red light came on once or twice for a few seconds and then stayed off. This morning the whole thing has started working again!. I did inspect the power supply board and could see no obvious sign of a faulty component. However I am thinking that if the problem was an electrolytic capacitor it might have corrected itself over time?

Want to buy a Loft Box and fittings from you. Am I correct in thinking that I will need a 304115 plate where the main TV is and GLO 027 plates at all other TV points if I want to use a magic eye at these TVs?

Received the RelKit 33k today, but I would like to confirm that capacitors C41 and C70 are correct. C41; You have listed in the Relkit33k Instructions 2200µf, 10v, but supplied 2200µf 6.3v. The original was 2200µf, 10v.

G'day from Downunder. I would like to purchase 3 kits of parts for your Relay Timer Circuit to use on a vehicle as explained by you for use with windscreen wipers. My questions are 1) Does the kit include a PCB? 2) Are all parts in the kit including the TLC55CP? 3) Cost of kits including bulk postage of 3 to Australia? 4) is payment by Mastercard okay ?
Around 18 months ago I moved house and until last weekend I didn't bother getting Sky re-installed.

I have a 4 feed distribution Box with FM in and UHF in. I am basically being lazy and have a aerial on roof with a short cable to the distribution box in the loft that feed 1 tv upstairs currently with freeview only. I have a cable from the back of the Sky box down stairs that comes up into the loft (i have no use for an aerial lead into the lounge as all tv comes off sky box).
I got a TRIAX domestic distribution unit model no 333112 and its has failed in service. The output amplifier has appeared to have failed, very shortly after installation. I manged to free up some time last month to install my equipment fully, and unfortunately it has sat down on me. In order to restore signal at home I have replaced this unit with a Televés 5715 which I sourced locally in Ireland, as my better half was very disappointed with the lack of signal (I hope you understand). How can I return this product to you for a refund or for a different replacement type?

This is just a pre-sales cable question.
Does the Multimo dish have to have a red blob or is it available in all white? I want to have a discreet dish on a balcony. My ordinary 44cm one works fine but someone has spotted it! Freesat from N France
I'm already a very satisfied customer using the Global 8-Way loft box (Yes I did buy it from you but have long lost the refernce!) I will soon be adding a SKY HD box and will also retain the existing SKY+ box. I want to ensure I have the ability to control both boxes from any room.

Can recommend Andy Fraser in Fleet. He fixed my Thomson while I waited in very nearby Fleet town centre. Reasonable price and since the fix I have not had a 'No signal' recording failure (been 12 days now).

Jon Davies in Slough repaired my SKY HD+ box PSU yesterday. After I used the form to post the original request he responded in an hour and we agreed to do the repair that afternoon! He was extremley friendly, knowledgable and quick! The repair was done in about 1 1/2 hours and saved me the cost of a new box. Overall I have been really impressed with this service, both the products from SatCure (my signal quality and quality have both improved) and the engineer database. Good job to all involved, I would recommend this service to anyone. Many thanks, Derron Taplin.

Hi, I received the capacitor kit very promptly, duly fitted it with no problems and...bingo the sky box seems fixed, I have back some 'missing' channels, its stopped 'crashing' and just maybe the picture quality is improved a tad. So well done, good information, well thought out kit and excellent value.
