| Hi-Fi Cabinet Cooling Fans for Sky etc. | The fans require a maximum of 12 volts dc (red is positive) which you can obtain from a small "plug-top" dc power unit. I recommend providing each fan with around 9 volts. They will last longer and run quieter. | | Either connect them in parallel (red to red, black to black) across a 9 volt dc supply capable of supplying 200 ma or more, or connect them in series (one red and one black connected together) the free red and black then go to an 18 volt power supply capable of supplying 100 ma or more. Or you can connect each of them to a supply of more than 9 volts and connect a low value resistor in one wire to slow them down. You can use screws but the fans run quieter if you can mount them flexibly - I use silicone bath sealant - but be VERY careful not to get it on the fan blades. You don't need to suck vast quantities of air through the cabinet - simply keep it moving gently. That way you get the cooling flow without dragging in dust like a vacuum cleaner!
