| His words the first time were: it's your cabling, mate. It degrades after a set amount of time." To this I replied: "I doubt it; my original system cable lasted seven years without a problem." The guy said he could arrange for it to be replaced but I refused and replaced it myself (I don't warrant spending £50 for nothing) with high quality shielded cable. The problem was still the same so I tried my own Euro sat box and still no signal. Again I made a call to Sky and another "engineer" arrived. Later he said the box could be faulty and that Euro receivers were not up to the job of determining whether or not a minidish worked. By now, a rather annoyed individual, I phoned sky and requested to cancel as I felt the engineers were incompetent. To this they replied: "We will send a senior tech.", which they did seven days later. To cut a long story short, I ordered one of SatCure's alignment meters and, with the help of a friend, installed a 60ccm dish in the front garden on a pole the day before the Sky man came. And - lo and behold - powered up the box and there it was "searching for signal". Two minutes later all Sky channels back. Needless to say, when the guy turned up, he didnt rubbish my knowledge and replaced the dish straight away. I even got 2 months' full package viewing courtesy of them. I have sinced cancelled Sky and have changed to a Euro system. Also, I have cable digital which never fails - but if does I am an engineer for Telewest so will be able to fix it straight away. :o) J.
