Sharing a dish is technically possible but can create problems. 1. The equipment in both houses will effectively be connected together via the screen of the coaxial cable. If an electrical fault occurs in one of the houses, it could cause a voltage of up to 440 volts AC to be present on the equipment in the other house! 2. It could lead to a dispute if one party requires more connections or if a new owner moves in and no longer wants to share. In this example, the safety issue is dealt with by connecting all cables through an earthing bar which is connected to the building ground. This may not be a perfect solution but it's a lot safer than nothing. Note: I am NOT an electrical engineer and I am NOT qualified to give advice on this subject. You should consult a fully qualified electrician and get him to carry out the "earth bonding". (Don't use a plastic sandwich box as shown in the photo. Ultraviolet light from the sun caused this one to disintegrate within a year.
