X-Ray Remote

This ingenious device turns your ordinary remote control handset into a wireless remote, simply by changing the battery! Even the non-technical can do this.

Remove one battery cell from the remote and clip in the adapter.

(Change the ordinary battery in the remote each year.)

Put the spare miniature rechargeable cell into the "UFO" receiver to charge up.

About once a month, swap the rechargeable cells so that the remote is always assured of adequate power.

The larger battery compartment marked AAA may be used to charge a second rechargeable battery while it is fitted into its transmitter.

Normally, you simply place the "UFO" receiver anywhere in the room where it can "see" the equipment and it will work. However, if your equipment is hidden inside a cupboard, you can use the single-eye emitter (supplied). Simply plug it into the "UFO", remove the protective paper from the adhesive and stick it to the front panel of your equipment where the internal sensor can "see" it.

An extra transmitter and rechargeable battery is available so that you can use TWO (or more) remotes.

A separate USB-powered charger is available for use in the rare instance that your "UFO" can not easily be reached and can not, therefore, be used for charging.

 

"I tried this kit myself, in my concrete-construction house in Greece. I have to say that I'm impressed. It managed to transmit its signal through a foot of concrete with embedded steel mesh. Or maybe the signal simply bounced its way upstairs and through the wooden door. Either way, it worked perfectly."

Troubleshooting

If you have problems, please carry out these checks:

1. Make sure you have the correct remote control for the equipment and that it works with normal battery cells.

2. Make sure the small battery inside the transmitter inside the remote control has been charged for at least 4 hours and te transmitter is fitted the right way round in the battery compartment. See photo, above. (Connecting it the wrong way may damage the transmitter and will void your warranty.)

3. Test the remote by operating it directly with your equipment and then again just "out of sight" of your equipment or inside a cardboard box. Make sure there's nothing to obstruct the radio signal, such as a wall containing metal in the form of wire mesh or aluminium foil, or a wall made out of solid stone or more than one brick thick.

4. Plug the single-eye emitter into the "UFO" and observe it through the LCD screen of a digital camera in a darkened room away from the TV and other equipment. When you press a button on the remote control you should see the emitter flash in the camera viewfinder screen. If you see it flash, it is almost cetainly working correctly. Now hold the emitter in front of your equipment and get someone to press a button on the remote control. (The emitter in the "UFO" can be observed in the same way.)

5. If the emitter is working (camera test) but your equipment still does not respond, please unplug all other electronic equipment nearby, such as wireless router, videosender, computer, games machine, energy-saver lights, and try again. (As the X-Ray remote transmits a radio signal, any equipment that transmits a similar signal may "deafen" the "UFO" radio receiver.)

6. If it still won't work, reset the remote control by removing the transmitter and holding the "select" button for 30 seconds. Replace the transmitter. (You will have to re-enter the TV control code after resetting the remote.)

7. If you still can't get it to work, please return it to us for a refund.
